Zurenborg, a stunning neighborhood full of history and elegant houses, located near the always lively Dageraadplaats with its great eateries and offering easy access to the city center, highway, and Berchem train station.
Around 1907–1908, the heirs of Baron Nottebohm built a set of six houses on this corner in neoclassical style. This is one of them: an authentic Zurenborg home, gradually renovated by the current owners (who are architects themselves). They’ve been living here since 1988 and renovated the roof, upstairs bathroom, and living room sliding door in 2004, the kitchen in 2006, and the boiler and another bathroom in 2023.
Because the house sits just above street level, passersby can’t peek inside – which is a nice bonus. From the ultra-stylish salons with gas fireplace, herringbone parquet flooring, and beautiful original sliding doors, you move into the sun-drenched dining area and the modern semi-open kitchen, both of which open onto the south-facing garden – an oasis of light and greenery, perfect for long summer dinners.
On the mezzanine level, there’s a renovated bathroom (shower, bath, sink), and on the first floor, two bedrooms – the rear one opens onto a delightful terrace where sun lovers can soak up the rays. On the second and third floors, you’ll find two more bedrooms and a bathroom on each level – an ideal setup for live-in students or potential rental. Nice extra: the basement, currently used as a chill space for the teenage kids, and a convenient laundry room at the back.
An inspiring home full of possibilities.
