Description

Very sought-after, quiet residential area with many trumps: between Te Boelaer and Boekenberg parks (with natural swimming pond), close to shops, public transport, arterial roads, schools and with plenty of parking nearby.

'Woning Montrieux', a beautiful mansion in Art Deco from 1928 designed by François Toen, Antwerp architect and building promoter for the Antwerp bourgeoisie. Its neighbours include the listed art-deco architects' houses by Jef Huygh and Flor Van Reeth. Together, these classy buildings give Boekenberglei its tasteful, distinctive character.

The wide façade in white natural stone with a bay window and elegant wrought ironwork says it all: this cleverly renovated house radiates Art Deco in every detail. You enter through the impressive entrance hall with marble staircase. A second, smaller hall used to serve as a service entrance and leads to the garage, toilet and kitchen.

In the spacious kitchen, with plenty of storage space and built-in appliances, you can indulge in dinner parties. Will you serve the aperitif on the spacious terrace on the ground floor, in the neatly laid-out garden or on the covered terrace on the first floor? A pool party is also possible, as the large garden with pond leaves more than enough space for the blissful swimming pool at the back.

Furthermore, this imposing house houses 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a huge dressing room and spacious office with authentic parquet flooring throughout, original marble fireplaces, moulures, stained-glass windows... A genuine art deco gem in mint condition.

A garden with so much space is really invaluable in the city.

owner speaks out

On seeing this property, we fell in love instantly. After all, here you get it all: a prime location, lots of natural light, very beautiful architecture and then - our pièce de resistance - the spacious garden. The fact that there was still room left for a large swimming pool was a dream come true for us. A garden with so much space is really invaluable in the city. Moreover, here we are also surrounded by the greenery of not one, but two parks: Te Boelaer and Boekenberg Park. At the same time, we are right on the motorway and in the centre of Antwerp. Add to that the ample parking space, the atmosphere and the safety of the neighbourhood and we were completely sold.

We completely renovated the house. It was very important to us that the property would not only be in perfect technical condition, but also aesthetically. So we proceeded very meticulously and thoroughly - and we are still reaping the benefits of that today.
