Description

At 100 metres from the Grote Markt, in the heart of Dendermonde, with the peaceful river the old Dender and countless fine boutique shops, local entrepreneurs and eateries within walking distance. Also beautiful pieces of nature, such as the Sas, the forts and the Sint-Onolfsdijk, are never far away. In addition, this is also an excellent base.

This middle-class house with charming facade was designed in 1928 by architect Emeri Couck. Qualitative (total) renovation in 2018 in which authentic and original elements, such as the mantelpiece, high ceilings, original wooden floors, wooden doors and ornamental frames were preserved or added.

In the living room with sitting area, the cosy wood fire in the authentic mantelpiece provides plenty of atmosphere. Thanks to the good insulation, it stays nice and warm in winter and cool in summer. Further on: room for the dining table and open kitchen with nice retro tiles, kitchen unit and lots of storage space. The veranda on the cosy garden terrace lets the light flow in nicely. Separate toilet and cellar.

Split level between 0 and 1: spacious bathroom with real wellness look (bath, shower, double sink, toilet). On level 1: two large bedrooms, one of which is now an office (with airco installation) and dressing room with nice sun terrace. On level 2 you will find two spacious bedrooms again and a separate storage room.

Garage box for rent at 70m from the house.

It is special to live in a house nearly a century old, while enjoying all the modern facilities of a newly built home.
The owners,

owner speaks out

'It is special to live in a house almost a century old, while enjoying all the modern facilities of a new-build home. One of our fondest memories of this house? The handwritten love letters from the first residents, which we discovered during the renovations. We read them carefully and kept them with care.

We bought this house as early twenty-somethings and created our first own place here with great care, enthusiasm and ideas. Our little son, Ode, was born in this house. We also experienced his first milestones - first steps, first birthday party - here together. Memories to cherish forever.
In winter, the wood-burning fireplace provides enormous cosiness. The living room is the heart of our home and the oasis of calm in the bathroom is perfect for relaxing.

The location also really appealed to us: living in the heart of the city centre, with a nice walk in the green belt and the train station within walking distance, without being bothered by city noise - a golden combination.'
