Description

Renovated eclectic town house

On the renowned Lemméstraat between Robert Molsstraat and Van Schoonbekestraat, close to the "Hof van Leysen" park, the well-known approach roads, public transport and shops. Residential location yet a few minutes from the city centre.

The house was designed by architect Jules Hofman and dates from 1912. It is part of an ensemble of three houses. The moulded facade consists of cream-coloured Silesian bricks in cross bond finished with a bluestone plinth. The wooden joinery of entrance doors and windows has been entirely preserved.

In the interior, authentic elements such as precious ceiling work, exceptional mosaic tiles, unique ornamental fireplaces, original doors and original wooden floors.

The house has been restored and updated to contemporary realities.

The floor plan corresponds to the classic typology of the bourgeois house with a main volume and a narrow rear extension.

On the glvl a lounge, dining room and kitchen. On the following floors living spaces or bedrooms. On the second floor a cosy terrace for sunbathers. The top floor could serve as a separate studio. (Possibly for rental?)

The ideal home for the city lover who loves space, tranquillity and aesthetics.

The neighbourhood is residential yet close to the city, green and quiet, and it houses some hip restaurants.
The estate agent, Isabel,

owner speaks out

"The property was built by the NV "Vooruitzicht". The construction company was founded in 1905 and is still active as a construction company in Antwerp today.

Mostly commissioned by private individuals, the company built numerous middle-class houses before World War I in the city's newly built districts such as the Zuid, Zurenborg and Jan van Rijswijcklaan.

From 1909, Jules Hofman was the chief architect of "Vooruitzicht". He worked both in a sober interpretation of the Art Nouveau style, and in a more conservative eclectic design genre.

The mansion's location is also a trump card. The neighbourhood is residential yet close to the city, green and quiet, and it is home to several trendy restaurants.

The park "Hof van Leysen" behind the corner of the house offers a nice green base and is also great for children. "
