Description

This eclectic-style townhouse is thought to have been built around 1892. During the renovation in 2004, the façade, interior and original joinery were restored to their former glory as far as possible, with great attention to detail and finish. The house has been immaculately maintained throughout, meaning it is still ready to move into and in very good condition today.

Nice and cool on the -1 level / in the basement, you’ll find the spacious, modern kitchen with high-quality Miele appliances, a generous dining room and a large window running the full width, allowing you to enjoy the view of the lovely city garden (W) in both winter and summer. A surprisingly peaceful green oasis, full of chirping birds. Laundry room, storage room and toilet.

The ground floor follows the classic layout, with three rooms in a row that together form one impressive living space. Beautiful herringbone parquet flooring. Fantastic terrace at the rear with lovely views over the garden, Sint Maartensdal and the Parish Church of Our Lady Mediatrix. The first floor has two (bed)rooms, currently used as an office. Toilet on both mezzanine levels. On +2: spacious bathroom and bedroom with beautifully preserved features, such as the marble mantelpiece and original wooden floorboards. Finally, on +3: the last bedroom with a shower room.

A handy bonus: a parking space 400 metres away is included.

owner speaks out

What makes this house so special and pleasant? It really is a house with a soul, a cocoon where you can unwind and naturally slow down. A historic house full of authentic features, without them feeling imposing, so you have complete freedom with the interior design. The sense of space you get from the size of the rooms and the height of the ceilings is also unrivalled. And then there’s the view at the back… In summer you look up into the crown of the walnut tree; in winter, in the evenings, you see the countless lights of Sint-Maartensdal. Finally, there is the imposing staircase – or, as I like to call it, my free gym.
