Description

Residential setting. Easy access to Mechelen, Antwerp, Leuven and Brussels, just 1 km from the village centre and school. Nearby lies Hofstade Plage with the trendy beach bar Zuiderbad and an open-air cinema. Ideal for a picnic, walk or afternoon in the play forest.

Architectural home originally designed by Gerard Cools, restyled and extended by B-bis architects. In 2024, the current owners further refined the property with an ecological green roof, solar panels, new central-heating pipes, convectors, EV charging station, LED lighting and solar screens.

On the left, the original bungalow; on the right, the B-bis extension featuring mirrored walls reflecting the surrounding greenery. Materials such as wengé, end-grain parquet, cork, copper and afromosia veneer create strong seventies references.

Entrance hall with cloakroom. Living area with floating wengé cabinets, spectacular windows and a cosy fireplace. Authentic kitchen with vintage tiles and storage room. West-facing terrace and garden with no fewer than 185 trees and wisteria.

Bathroom with double washbasin and bathtub. Separate toilet. Two bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room and pleasant patio view. Spacious light-filled office with coffee corner and master bedroom in the B-bis extension overlooking the lush green roof. Integrated garage.

Good to know: a sought-after location for fashion and interior photo and film shoots, even Scandinavian nordic noir productions — offering an attractive additional income opportunity.

owner speaks out

For years, we had been searching for a seventies bungalow like this one. Here, everything immediately felt 100% right. We had long dreamed of a place like this, an architectural cocoon set in greenery, where we could settle down with our children. The vintage pieces we had carefully collected over the years naturally found their place in this home.

And then there is the wonderful location, surrounded by greenery. The house and the garden – with all its trees – form a perfect match throughout all seasons. From the first rays of sunshine in spring to the warm summers, when mature trees create a natural buffer against the abundant sunlight streaming through the many windows, to autumn and winter, when changing colours and sometimes even snow give this place a truly magical glow. The most delightful spot? In summer, it is the evening terrace in the warm setting sun, and in winter, the fireplace, around which you can enjoy calm and intimate moments.
